I have tried to stay out of the debate on the (in my opinion
"fantasy") Bridges project because, on the issue of whether the River
Corridor should be rezoned for skyscrapers, I believe the decision
should rest with St. Paul residents and elected city officials. But
after reading Diane Gerth's well-reasoned and articulate Viewpoint
relating to the "stacking" of the West Side board and someone asking
me whether JLT's well publicized antics could adversely affect the
reputation of other Trooiens (including my children), I said to
myself: "Enough is enough."
Please know there are other Trooiens in this town who conduct their
business, and serve the Twin Cities communities, in a manner very
different from that of the JLT Group. Trooien cops, teachers and
community activists are a few examples that come to mind. I sincerely
hope our last name has not been irreparably intertwined with the JLT
Group.
