Tim Erickson, our US connection, is in London again. Richard Stubbs and I are meeting up with him on Monday at 7.30pm in the Golden Grove pub in Stratford for a pint and an informal conversation about the forum. Please join us. http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub116.html
Hmmm, I thought I already responded to this - but, the system may have eaten my
message.

I'm really looking foward to getting back to Newham and hearing from members of
the forum, how this little experiment in E-Democracy has served your community.
The Newham Issues forum is now almost 18 months old and judging by the 75 posts
by at least 17 different members of the forum, to the "Mega Mosque" discussion,
the forum is alive and well.
If you have the time and inclination, please drop by the Grove Pub in Stratford
on Monday evening, so that we can chat about the future of e-participation in
Newham, the UK, and even the world.
Again, I often speak at conference in the UK and US about the Issues Forums and
I'm very much looking forward to your insights about how Issues Forums are
useful and how future projects might be improved upon.
Best wishes,
Tim Erickson

The last sentence does require that you will recognise us and I guess there
must be a good few on this list who have never met Gavin, Tim or I. If you
are one of these, and would like to come along, then I'm fairly easy to spot
being 5'3" and dressed in a pink shirt and grey trousers. I will be talking
with Gavin who is black and Tim who is American so I guess its not that hard
to find us.
Hope some of you can make it.
Best

Picking an American out the crowd in Newham can't be all that hard, can it? :-) But, just in case, I googled myself to find an online bio (with photo) that might help. My hair is a little longer now and I won't be wearing a tie. http://www.politalk.org/ODDC/participants/time.htm I've heard from at least two other folks that they will be joining us - so, if all goes well, we should be a group of at least 5. I'm really hoping that more of you can show up. Best wishes, Tim Erickson E-Democracy.Org http://www.e-democracy.org/blog/

Indeed, you don't even need to use your eyes :-)
...not as easy as a Turban though!
Thanks to everyone who showed up on Monday evening. I've posted a photo of the gathering on the E-Democracy.Org project Blog. Please, check it out. http://e-democracy.org/blog/posts/49 It was really evident based upon conversations that we had on Monday evening, that the Issues Forum is continuing to play a valuable role in Newham in terms of discussing some of the important issues facing the community. The best way to see the forum grow in size and importance is for all of you to post new and different topics to the forum. The more you post and the greater the diversity of topics, the more interesting the forum will be for new participants. If any of you have any plans on visiting the US, please consider dropping by the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis and St. Paul) to meet some of the forum members there. I'd be happy to show you around our fine cities. Maybe, we'll have an Issues Forum exchange sometimes soon and exchange delegations of citizens engaged in local issues to learn from each other (wouldn't that be cool :-) Keep on posting.....
