Greetings!
Several groups came together this year to help put together a New Media Center
at the Goodale Shelterhouse for this years Comfest.
Columbus Social Media Cafe -- http://socialmediacafe.wordpress.com/
Sporeprint -- http://www.sporeprint.info/
Indie Media Columbus -- http://cbusimc.org/
and most importantly the Comfest Archive Committee -- http://comfest.com/
These organizations along withother special guest will provide workshops and
space for teach-ins throughout the weekend at Comfest. The New Media Center
will also have access availablefor attendees to upload citizen journalism from
the event. The schedule of workshops can be found here:
http://comfest.com/schedule.htm
I will be leading a session on Saturday at 1pm covering Flashmobs, Instant
Organizing and Community Building through social media tools. Joining me for
the workshop will be Jeff Johnson of http://urbaninfill.wordpress.com and Tim
Eby of http://wosu.org both of whom are involved with the Columbus Social Media
Cafe with me.
Finally, if you are podcasting, putting up photos or video, or just writing
some stories about Comfest this weekend please tag it with Comfest08 so that we
can track it down as a part of the larger Comfest Archive. Thanks!Andrew Miller

This looks great. I am currently serving as Executive Director to an
initiative called the Knight Commission on the Information Needs of
Communities in a Democracy (www.knightcomm.org), and would love to
learn more about the world of social media in my home town! See you Saturday.
Best, Peter
