getting a forum to 100 members to open and then growing it in an
inclusive manner takes outreach resources.
Tabling at libraries, community festivals and going door to door
really works. Volunteers play an important role, but we've decided to
seek funding for paid St. Paul style outreach in Minneapolis.
Specifically going door to door and coordinating volunteers is from
our experience paid work. It is a lynch pin for breaking through in
new parts of town.
To attract that foundation funding we have to demonstrate that
Minneapolitans really want to build *inclusive* online neighborhood
networks with their forum participation, volunteer time, and
donations.
The letter below is about donations. Please consider a donation (let
us know in the notes you are on a start-up forum) or volunteer your
time today to build your new forum: http://e-democracy.org/getinvolved
Thanks,
Steve

Subject: Please consider this E-Democracy forum when you are making
year-end donations! Let's connect Minneapolis together.
Hello E-Democracy Members,
This year, you can give the gift of inclusive online neighborhood
engagement to others:
http://bit.ly/donateedem
In 2012, thanks to funding from the Knight Foundation and generous
donors, we successfully implemented a summer outreach campaign -
http://bit.ly/edemstpaul - which increased our St. Paul forum
membership to nearly 6,000 members. That’s a record increase of 266%
in one year! When combined with our work across the Twin Cities and
the globe, we currently have more than 80 forums connecting almost
23,000 members.
Outreach works. It takes resources. It is vital to active community exchange.
Imagine what we can do to reach more neighbors right on your street
with your support in the coming year. With Knight funding limited to
St. Paul, support from forum members for inclusive outreach *in
Minneapolis* is crucial as we seek major funding to reach thousands
new members across this great city.
It’s not too late to give to E-Democracy this year, and support our
efforts to build the largest inclusive online network of neighborhood
forums in the world! We are making donating easy, so you can get back
to enjoying the holidays. You can give your gift online at our GiveMN
page - http://bit.ly/donateedem - or simply mail in a check*.
Even the smallest gift, can make a big difference!
Thank you,
Steven Clift
