Concerns About Infrastructure
Please note the resolution below. The BS3 Planning Group intends to present
it for discussion to the June 24 meeting of GBCP, or something very like it.
However, they want to give people an opportunity to consider it before hand.
Please send any comments to <email obscured>
Councillors and council candidates may like to take the issue on board.
“The BS3 Planning Group asks GBCP to note that the population of the area has
increased and will increase, especially as more brown-field sites in BS3 are
developed for housing. We are concerned that this will place still further
pressures on the infrastructure of the area, including on doctors’ surgeries,
parks, young peoples’ organisations and nursery and school provision.
We urge GBCP to request a report from BCC setting out the background to these
developments, an assessment of the pressures on infrastructure and proposals
for mitigation.”
BS3 Planning Group
The Group has sent the attached letter to BCC Development Management (i.e. the
Planning Department) about the former Scout Hut on Balfour Road, next to what
was the Luckwell Club. This is a good example of a letter to planners.

What’s your favourite building in Bemmy?
Andrew Hedger and Tiffany Pol are UWE MSc students, part of an international
team of 4 working on Bedminster projects. Andy and Tiffany are undertaking a
study of listed buildings in BS3, but are also interested in unlisted ones that
have local support. Perhaps these ‘buildings of merit’ have historical,
architectural or civic significance. Or, perhaps you just like the look of
them. Andy and Tiffany will be producing a map highlighting listed and
‘worthy’ buildings as part of the heritage of Bedminster along with some
background to each building. Their work will be available to local people as
a reference. Make sure that your favourite building isn’t ignored by
contacting Andy and Tiffany on <email obscured> and
<email obscured>, but do it in the next two weeks or you’ll miss the
boat.
