back as I was researching my family's St. Paul roots I discovered connections
to Old Rondo.
My maternal grandfather along with his younger sister landed by boat from
Ireland on October 30, 1914 at Ellis Island. They traveled to St. Paul to live
with their aunt, Mrs. Bridget McDonough at 239 Rondo Street. My grandfather
lived their until 1917 when he moved to 905 University Ave. In 1918 he moved
to 88 West Central Ave. married my grandmother and then join the Army and left
to fight in WW1. After returning from the military he and my grandmother
moved to 975 Selby where they would live the rest of their lives.
At this time a child was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Griffin, their second
son, James S.Griffin who would grow up to become a leader of not only the Black
community but all of St. Paul as well. James Griffin Stadium on the grounds of
Central High School bears his name. See:

His family owned a home which they purchased in 1909 at 587 Rondo when he was
born in 1917.
