ned, we pay $17k per student to educate, i don't know how many $1/2m dollar
homes pay $20k in taxes every year but i don't think that would cover the costs
to the town anyway, it is possible that the average 3 bedroom apartment has as
many kids as the average 3 bedroom house and yet the tax revenue is quite a bit
less with the apartment,
we only have taxes because we have people and the more people we have the
higher our taxes will be, unless, of course, those new residents are age
restricted or sterile, and then we have the traffic problems,
does anyone know the average taxes received from a 2 bedroom condo/apartment in
north framingham,?
MY RESPONSE
Keep in mind the following:
*A given household don't keep sending children to school for several
generations. How long have you lived in your house in Framingham? How many
children you sent to school? Are you still sending children to school? Are you
planning on moving out of your house or are you planning to stay in your
current home for at least a decade? Do you plan to send additional children to
school?
*Framingham local taxpayers do not pay 100% of operating school including
acquiring and maintaining property but rather Framingham have received State
aid and Federal Aid like clockwork, What has changed is that the Feds have cut
back on the amount of aid they send to school in terms of real dollars compared
back in the 1960's.
*Just on East Street alone, there are 7 double-deckers, 1 triple-deckers, and 2
cottages. 4 households on East St has children, totaling about 7-10 children.
*I am certain that children with parents working for these STEM companies would
be earning good to excellent pay, hence be assuring vitality of the local
economy.
*There is a demand for housing for older adults who do not plan to be sending
children to school, but still need apartment-sized housing.
With all of these points brought forth, are you suggesting that 100 percent of
yuppies with children moving into Framingham will be detrimental to Framingham?
Walter and Ned: How about using your scientific, technological, engineering,
and mathematical skill to make your counterpoint.
In response to the expressed notion opposing pot shop, what facts do you have
to support your opposition to pot shops? Again, I like some scientific,
technological, engineering, or mathematical skill to show how bad pot is to
justify banning pot shops. One more thing... leave factually-incorrect stuff
out of the argument less you get called on it.
