and recreation for all ages in Cedar Riverside is significant. The Cedar
Riverside Partnership approved a resolution (12/20/17) to encourage the YMCA
and Augsburg University to collaborate with the Park Board for joint delivery
of programs and services through a shared facility located on the Augsburg
campus. This seems like a great way to bring much needed activities to the most
densely populated neighborhood in the city. I don't have a leadership role in
this, but I am well aware of the need for this space. I have heard that
Pillsbury United Communities and the Park Board are also working together on
how this would benefit programming and services at the Brian Coyle Center and
Currie Park. I hope to see this get attention from community members and the
institutions that can help this happen. When we work together great things can
happen.
It would take some time to look at the details. There would need to be a market
and feasibility study and some preliminary design, but there is some state
funding that can be used to do this work. There would be considerable need to
engage the community in the design and identification of desired programs and
services.
Thanks,
Scott Vreeland
