FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cable Advisory Committee Seeks Your Input on Cable TV Service (respond online
or in print)
Framingham, MA January, 2018
Under franchise agreements with the City of Framingham, three cable operators,
Comcast, RCN, and Verizon, provide cable TV services to residences and business
in our city. Framingham’s Cable Advisory Committee is seeking your opinion
through a survey about cable TV services as part of the process of renewing the
cable operators’ licenses as each comes up for renewal. Please take part in
this important process, known as ascertainment (gathering your input for our
recommendations on the license renewals). There will be a public hearing later
this spring on the licenses that are being considered for renewal.
The vision for future cable TV service includes such services as HD (High
Definition) picture quality for all three local access channels (just as is
available for the major channels), as well as extending the EPG (Electronic
Program Guide) to display the program schedule for the three local channels.
Framingham has three local access channels providing locally produced
programming:
· AFTV – Access Framingham (Comcast 9, RCN 3, Verizon 43)
Programs of local interest created by and for Framingham
· FEC-TV – Framingham Education Channel (Comcast 8, RCN 15, Verizon 41)
School Committee and School Department news and information
· The Government Channel (Comcast 99, RCN 13/HD 613, Verizon 42)
Live and recorded coverage of governmental bodies; recorded public
affairs events
