early ballots in this year’s presidential election. Early voting begins this
Friday, September 23, at 8 a.m. In anticipation of the potential for
significant participation, the City of Minneapolis will operate four Early Vote
Centers throughout the community to support maximum access and convenience for
all voters. Those Early Vote Centers will be located at the following
addresses:
Downtown Early Vote Center
217 S Third St
North Early Vote Center
2100 Plymouth Ave N
Northeast Early Vote Center
2516 Central Ave NE
South Early Vote Center
1860 E 28th St
All Early Vote Centers will be open to serve voters Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. During the final two weeks prior to Election Day (Nov. 8), these
service hours will be extended and also include service hours on Saturdays and
Sundays. A voter can use any of these four satellite locations to access their
ballot no matter where they live in the city. All 132 precincts and
precinct-specific ballots are available at all four vote centers.
Here are three steps every voter can take now to help themselves:
STEP #1: REGISTER, OR VERIFY REGISTRATION STATUS
Because registration is mandatory, it’s important for all voters to either
pre-register or verify their registration status. The last day to pre-register
for this year’s general election is Tues., Oct. 18. Happily, anyone can
register on-line using tools supported by the Secretary of State, which we’ve
conveniently embedded into the City's elections website, along with a bevy of
FAQs, information, and resources related to registration. You can access these
resources from the City’s Elections & Voter Services website at: vote <dot>
minneapolismn <dot> gov.
STEP #2: VOTE EARLY: BY-MAIL OR IN-PERSON
If voters want to avoid waiting in line at the polls on Election Day, they
should absolutely take advantage of early voting—either by mail or in person at
one of the City’s four Early Vote Centers. This is especially important for
first-time voters, voters who require assistance completing the voting process,
or those who just want a little extra time without the rush that defines
Election Day. You can request a vote-by-mail ballot to be sent to you from the
City’s Elections & Voter Services website at: vote <dot> minneapolismn <dot>
gov.
STEP #3: USE YOUR SAMPLE BALLOT TO PREPARE
Each sample ballot is an exact copy of a voter’s official ballot based on their
registered residence, using a combination of ward-precinct and zip code. You
can pre-mark your choices on your sample ballot in the comfort and privacy of
your home and then bring it with you to the polls to expedite time in the
voting booth. Sample ballots are available on-line from the City’s Elections &
Voter Services website at: vote <dot> minneapolismn <dot> gov.
Looking forward to a busy election season, and doing our best to support all
voters!
