Northway asked a question about the legal arrangements in relation to the
new Northway Community Centre. You can see her question 40 minutes into the
recording of the Full Council meeting (video link attached). Cllr Antonia
Bance replied, confirming that the Chair, along with another Trustee of the
Northway Community Association, signed a Leasing Agreement and an
associated Management Agreement with Greensquare (the property developers).
This relates to the occupation of, the yet to be constructed, new Community
Centre which will be owned by Greensquare, but leased to the Community
Association.
You can also see Cllr Roy Darke's response confirming that he, in his
capacity of Chair of the Northway Community Association, signed the lease
agreement.
I understand that the main concern of key members of the Northway
Community Association is whether Cllr Roy Darke is indeed Chair of the
Northway Community Association. They believe he is not and that he was not
authorised to sign the new lease agreement with Greensquare. I understand
that the Charity Commission have been asked to investigate and to verify
Cllr Darke's position.
As the prospective Green Party candidate for Northway and Headington Hill I
welcome an urgent and full investigation in this matter as this issue,
including concerns about the future of the community centre, comes up
frequently on the doorsteps in Northway.
