If you're interested in more information on this project bid, have a look at the Connecting Bristol website (link below), which includes a .pdf summary of the project and the timetable for it going forward. http://www.connectingbristol.org/2008/05/19/virtual-farmers-market-nesta-green-challenge-bid-for-bristol/ I believe the bid was first put together by (and continues to be a focus of) Matt Fortnam (Bristol Uni's Earth Sciences, Bristol Sustainability Network and Bristol's Eco-Jam website http://ecojam.org). There was a consultation with interested community / food groups on May 29th, and the final bid goes in on June 9th.
At the risk of being a spoil-sport about something that has the buzz-words "local food" in it's proposal, I have some reservations about the Virtual Farmers' Market. Below is the link to my discussion with Matt Fortnam. I am not saying that this proposal has no value, but rather that the implications need to be thought through properly. Basically, if you are within access of a Farmer's Market (as BS3 is) why go for a pledge to use a virtual market instead? http://groups.google.co.uk/group/BrSN/browse_thread/thread/59c2ec6153dc0a71/cdb53242f19badb6?lnk=raot#cdb53242f19badb6 Diane Jones
