recognized playwright, who began his theater career as an actor. When noting
the small number of roles for Native Americans, he wrote his own plays, to give
Native actors more to bring to the stage. He confronts major issues like tribal
autonomy, identity politics, and the historical legacy of Indian/white
relations.
