WORKSHOP: Building and Sustaining Local Issues Forums
May 11th, 1-4:00 PM, Newham Town Hall
Led by Tim Erickson (E-Democracy.Org).
A detailed workshop for council officers and community organisations on what it
takes to successfully engage citizens in local democracy thru the use of a
local Issues Forum. This workshop will cover tips and techniques for
recruitment, facilitation, and management of an Issues Forum. We'll talk about
how to trouble shoot problems that often come up and how to stimulate
participation. We'll be drawing from the examples of the most successful Issues
Forums in the UK and USA.

FREE WORKSHOP: An Intro to Issues Forums & ePetitioning
May 16th, 1-4:00 PM, Rotherham
Led by Tim Erickson (E-Democracy.Org) and Carol Hayward (Bristol City Council).
This workshop will introduce participants to Issues Forums and ePetitioning as
methods of engaging citizens in local policy decisions. We'll talk about the
benefits and some possible drawbacks of both initiatives and walk participants
thru the necessary steps to implement them within their local or regional
councils. We'll share stories and examples from successful initiatives in the
UK and USA.
