for the beach visitor survey, but it was not on the CCC website bit I have been
emailed a copy and post it as a file here. It was an extended professional
survey and as democracy goes I guess it must mean something.
Visitors came from all Christchurch. They liked the dunes. A minority was
worried about aspects of dogs.
Councils have to protect minorities, but should such a minority be developers
who want views over lowered dunes when most Christchurch people like the dunes
as they are? Other issues?
How about more classes of dog licence for trained dogs/owners to have more
freedom on beaches? That all poos are picked up, that dogs never attack &c?
Would that protect the minority worried about dogs?
And back to the current plan consultation. I fear that a New Brighton which is
reduced in commercial floor space so that the supermarket takes up one third of
the total and makes it more competitive to get retail space would sacrifice
diversity of communtiy interaction of lower financial profit enterprises.
Can you help me define the majority and various minority interests with a view
to surveying?
