The Trump Administration is proposing an alarming
and risky way of transporting fracked gas: They
have proposed to issue a permit to allow
liquified natural gas (LNG) to be hauled by train.
Trains of up to 100 tank cars, all carrying
liquefied (super-pressurized), highly flammable,
potentially explosive fracked gas, would roll
through American cities, towns and countryside at
speeds up to 50 miles an hour.
This is folly. Can you imagine the possible
consequences if such a train were to derail? If
even one tank car were to breach, the result
could be a gas bomb a fire so intense that
emergency responders could not put it out.
Please express your opposition by submitting a
brief comment to the Pipeline and Hazardous
Materials Safety
Administration.
