Nelson Rogers gave money to only one political candidate. That candidate was
the incumbent U.S. Senate candidate from Minnesota, Rudy Boschwitz, a
Republican U.S. Senate candidate from Minnesota. According to Javers, in 1990,
Prince gave twice to Boschwitz, who was running against Paul Wellstone.
According to hollowverse.com, Prince was raised a Seventh-day Adventist, but in
2001, he converted to Jehovahâs Witness. According to the website, Prince was a
homophobe although much of his fan base consisted of homosexuals.
âGod came to Earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with
whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was like, âEnough.â I just live
according to this [referring to the Bible]"
While Princes dress (androgyny) and lyrics often included progressive values,
was he like Donald Trump, a fake, who was more concerned with sales than
substance.
I wonder what affect these facts will have on the many liberal commentators,
including some on this website, who, following Princesâs death, have
participated in the world wide âcelebration of Princeâs life,â which looks as
if it is going to go on for over a week. Prince, whose life style, like Trump,
included a private jet, and like Michael Jackson,s Never Land, it included
Paisley Park, a 70,000 square foot complex, which has its own night club. Does
Prince, who, by his lifestyle, promoted consumerism rather than economic
justice, really deserve greater accolades than say for example Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr?
Well, at least now in Minneapolis, we have another âmartyrâ besides Jamar
Clark, whose âlife we can celebrateâ. Please forgive me if I can't get all that
enthusiastic about either of them. I'm just not feeling it.
