urge, once the âmultistory carpark building look alikeâ started to appear
opposite the site which, when we looked out of our windows, used to make us
feel that we lived in the countryside instead of beside a highway, which I
feel could boast the most traffic lights, signs, lights etc., in any given area
in Oxford!!!
But, I must stick to the subject, and have been moved to mention my dreadful
parking experience recently.
At the beginning of the month, a friend drove me to the Pharmacy at the Manor
Road surgery to change a prescription.
A new parking system has recently commenced, whereby notices are displayed,
stating that we are allowed 15 minutes free parking. I naturally assumed that
any further time would require a meter in the grounds , as one rarely parks,
sees the GP and escapes within 15 minutes. I have never bothered to check what
happens when exceeding the generous 15 minutes, as I use the disabled
facilities. The notice also mentions a ÂŁl00 fine , which surely cannot mean
parking for 16 min +?
We arrived at 5.50pm. and parked with my Blue Badge in the Disabled Parking
Bay â which also displayed the same notice, but stupidly, I am so used to being
grateful that it does not include me, that we just made for the Pharmacy and
had to wait with about 5-6 people for almost 40 minutes. Unbeknown to us, we
must have been âclocked inâ along with many others, I assume, by a small
camera on a tall post just inside the entrance as we entered from Osler Road.
Less than a week later, we had a fine for ÂŁl00.
Parking in a Disabled Bay, with a Blue Badge, in a G.P. Practice Car Park at
6.30 on a very dark evening, when it hadnât entered my mind that parking
restrictions would apply and as there were only a few cars there, no-one
needed to worry!!!
We now have to tap in our car registration number at the surgery. which
covers us for the duration of our G P appt. but no provision had been made for
visits to the pharmacy.
BEFORE ANYONE ELSE GETS CAUGHT , WHEN VISITING THE PHARMACY ONLY, TAKE YOURSELF
INTO THE SURGERY AND SIGN IN ON THE LAPTOP BY THE RECEPTION DESK. They have
now had to include pharmacy customers as there have been so many complaints.
