Growing up under WELFARE (1943) I was able to walk from Methuen to Salem
and the Park.
I was big enough to pass for an older age than I was and was able to
sell newspapers, CLOCKER WALKER
TIP CARDS and earn a few $$DOLLARS$$ which helped support our family
income. This went on
all during the war years, and because GAMBLING or as it is called today
GAMING was allowed my
family enjoyed a far better life style than welfare afforded us.
I left Methuen in 1948 to serve in the U. S. Air Force. Tw3enty seven
(27) years later, (1975) I retired and
looked for civilian employment to help the income of my retirement pay
which supported my family
in a better life style. Ironically, my employment was at ROCKINGHAM
PARK managing the COMPUTER
CENTER for a firm called ORTH TECH. My employment at the Park was
enjoyable as my fellow employees
were a pleasure to work with. Then the BIG FIRE put an end to
everything that was good with the
ROCKINGHAM PARK employment.
Today, we are facing a NEGATIVE POLITICAL GROUP in CONCORD who are not
thinking about the
PEOPLE of the State of New Hampshire. """GAMING""" or """GAMBLING"""
if approved will bring a
COMPLETE RENOVATION of the PARK as it is today into a NEW and MODERN
FACILITY. JOBS==JOBS
and more JOBS will be available as well as $$$ INCREASED TAX REVENUES
and the RETURN of
THOROUGHBRED RACING as it was in the past. The FACILITY will be
something we will all be PROUD
of. The GAMING people from Los Vegas are offering a GUARANTEE to the
STATE of MILLIONS of DOLLARS.
YES, I wrote $$$ MILLIONS of DOLLARS $$$. It is a WIN===WIN===
situation for the State and Towns.
If GAMING is approved, THINK of the number of PEOPLE it will help. I
can attest to the CHARITABLE
ORGANIZATIONS that are being supported today through the"""
GAMING"""of BINGO & TEXAS HOLDEM.
I work for two (2) Non Profit Organizations which DONATE in EXCESS
$200,000.00 plus DOLLARS per year.
Is the STATE or TOWNS ready to pick up the LOSS of this support for the
CHARITIES????? """NO""" they
DO NOT HAVE THE $$ MONEY $$ to do it.
Write and call your STATE REPRESENTATIVES and URGE them to OPEN their
MINDS & HEARTS to the
PEOPLE of NEW HAMPSHIRE and PASS the """"GAMING BILL""""".
Thank you,
