Saturday, July 11, from 10 AM to 2 PM
This year's Tour highlights a dozen vibrant urban farms, small parks, community
gardens and residential gardens in Saint Paul's most diverse neighborhood. The
know-how and creativity of Frogtown's gardeners, arborists, and urban farmers
will be on display in this year's tour. Sites include the Twin Cities' largest
urban farm; a Hmong elders' demonstration garden; a front yard overflowing with
native plants and pollinator-friendly flowers, and more, including a mini-tour
of Frogtown Park & Farm.
"In previous years, people who have come on our garden tours loved the chance
to see Frogtown's gorgeous home gardens. It gave many visitors a whole new
perspective on the neighborhood," says Frogtown Green coordinator Patricia
Ohmans, one of the Tour organizers. "With the addition of so many new public
parklets, community gardens and urban farms in Frogtown, this year's Tour
participants will have even more to admire."
The 2015 Tour takes place on Saturday, July 11, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The tour
will be self-guided, with a ticket and map showing participants the route.
Tickets are a suggested donation of $5 and will be available NeighborWorks Home
Partners, 533 North Dale Street.
The Frogtown Garden Tour builds beauty and sustainability within the Frogtown
neighborhood and adds to a growing public perception of Frogtown as "the
greenest neighborhood in Saint Paul."
The Frogtown Garden Tour was a well-loved tradition from 1999 through 2006.
This year Frogtown Green is partnering with NeighborWorks Home Partners to
bring it back, better than ever. Frogtown Green is a resident-led initiative
for sustainable development; NeighborWorks Home Partners provides a full range
of homeownership-related services, including homebuyer education and home
improvement funding.
