Meet Authors Lipman and Medweb at Friends Annual Meeting Tuesday Night 7PM
Each spring, the Friends of the Westwood Library celebrate a year of successful
Library programs with a special event to thank residents for their financial
generosity and membership.
As a special treat, two exciting authors will be headlining the festivities,
Elinor Lipman and Mameve Medweb.
Lipman is the author of thirteen books of fiction and nonfiction, includingThe
Inn at Lake Devine, Isabel's Bed, The Family Man, The View From Penthouse B and
I Can't Complain: (All Too) Personal Essays. She was the 2011-2012 Elizabeth
Drew professor of creative writing at Smith College, and is a board member and
trustee of PEN America. Her novelThen She Found Me, was adapted for the screen
- written, directed and starring Helen Hunt.
Medwed, known as Bangor, Maine's other writer, is the author of five
novels,Mail, Host Family, The End of an Error, How Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Saved My Life, Of Men and Their Mothers. Her short stories, essays, and book
reviews have appeared in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Gourmet, Redbook,
Yankee, The Missouri Review, and The Post. She has taught fiction writing at
The Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and has been a mentor in the writing
program at Lesley University.
Socks for Circle of Hope
Once again this year, the Friends invite patrons to “pay it forward” by
donating new socks for men and women to the Circle of Hope organization. A bin
will be provided in the lobby of the Main library for collection.
For Members
Following the authors presentation, the Friends will conduct a brief Annual
Meeting, including election of board members. Those who have made a financial
donation to the Friends during the year are considered “Members” of the Friends
and are welcome to attend the meeting.
