Minneapolis to host global summit in 2015

Democracy in a Sustainable Future,” will take place at the Minneapolis
Convention Center and on parts of the University campus next October.
Groups of state and world leaders will converge in the metro area to
develop plans they can pitch in their respective countries, according to a
June press release.
Somali-American officers bridge gap between police and community

said Mukhtar Abdulkadir, a Minneapolis police officer. “A police pulled her
over. She was so nervous and fearful while she waited for the police [to]
come to her window. Then she glanced at the window. Realizing the officer
was a Somali, she said to him, ‘Oh, you scared me. I thought you were a
real police officer.’”

playground sets standing in North Minneapolis’s Bethune Park, the once
brightly-painted metal jungle gyms and swing sets now faded by decades of
steady use. Likewise, the nearby sun-bleached concrete wading pool stands
empty for the season.
