Tasty free dinner and talk with Ralph Nader, all welcome.
Enjoy dinner and visit with U.S. Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader. He
will talk about his campaign and work on behalf of the American public
at the Taos Peace House, at 801 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos, New Mexico
on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 6:30PM
Ralph Nader will be speaking at the Taos Peace House at a special dinner
and presentation. He is the first of the presidential candidates to
speak at the Taos Peace House. Meet Ralph Nader in person. He changed
our world with his life long effort to improve consumer safety. Now he
seeks the highest office in the United States. Join us for this
interesting event! Free and everyone is welcome.
For over four decades Ralph Nader has exposed problems and organized
millions of citizens into more than 100 public interest groups to
advocate for solutions.
His efforts have helped to create a framework of laws, regulatory
agencies, and federal standards that have improved the quality of life
for two generations of Americans.
His groups were instrumental in enacting the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
In the past decade, Nader has dedicated himself to putting people back
in charge of America’s democracy, launching three major presidential
campaigns.
Because of Ralph Nader we drive safer cars, eat healthier food, breath
better air, drink cleaner water, and work in safer environments.

Hi, Muina-
Ralph Nader has opposed the death penalty since he was in Law school.
Unfortunately, most capital crimes are matters of state law, a fact
which tends to minimize a president's actual impact on that issue.

Hi Lee and others,
Thanks for posting this at LV-Issues. Although many Dems consider Nader a
"spoiler", I have discussed issues with him on a personal level, as I was
alsoable to do with Kucinich when making Vegan meals for him in Malibu.
One thing I can say about Nader: he listens, and genuinely supports what he
thinks is better for society as a whole.
Although there are NO politicians that I can 100% allign with, I feel Nader is
closer to my personal agenda preferences than Obama. I feel Obama did us ALL a
dis-service for flip-flopping of the FISA issue, and is now ready to support a
compromised legislation on allowing off-shore drilling. IsObama really "one of
us", or simply bowing to Repubs on issues that give them more "fodder" to
support their war agenda, while making Bush immune to incriminating
legislation,and taking away human rights?
I will probably still "hold my nose" andsupport Obama, as I did with Kerry 4
years ago, but let's get real... How can Dems expect our whole-hearted support
if they keep acting more like "Republicrats" [Nader coined term] than having a
TRUEprogressive platform? Obama publically chastized Blackwater, but unlike
Hillary, still supports "Military Contractors" in Iraq, as well as maintaining
the huge occupied "Green Zone" with 25-50,000 military force, AFTER the
militarywithrdrawal he talks of. Every day he sounds more like "one of them".
If you get a chance, I think you would enjoy the recentmovie Kevin Costner put
out [still in Santa Fe & Abq] called "Swing Vote". It hits the nail right on
the head, why Obama is "flip flopping", thinking he is gaining more support for
having a "Centrist" attitude. This attitudeisolates thoseof us that support
agenda instead of being career Dems.
For a while I was registered "Green" in LA, CA areabefore returning to NM.
Though somewhat "top heavy" with a Socialist agenda, Greens seem to be more
open minded than either Dems or Repubs. If we were to get the party active in
NM, I think we could quickly shift local platform to a REAL progressive group,
and help them gain a viable support base. Greens almost without exception are
much more environmentally responsible, without the challenges associated with
"career politicians"... though Nader is an exception in that group. The Greens
LOST a lot of support when Kucinich entered the race in '03-04, and we were
very dissapointed when press black balled him, like they generally do to
Greens, as well as Nader.
Dems should support legislation helping our cause, if they really want our
votes.
