Organized Trash Collection Priorities
Tell us how you feel about and what you prioritize related to trash collection.
Introduction
The city of Saint Paul has been considering a move to an organized
system of trash collection. In its most simple terms, organized trash
collection is a system for collecting trash in which one or multiple
trash haulers are authorized to collect trash from a specific service
area. In an organized system, one trash hauler would pick up the
trash from your block on a set day for a set price that has been
negotiated by the city.
Currently, Saint Paul has an open system of trash collection. This
means that property owners must contract with their own hauler to have
their trash picked-up. Haulers donโt necessarily work in specific
areas, so several different haulers may collect from a single block.
Individuals must negotiate their own price with a trash hauler.
As we begin to think about organized trash hauling in Saint Paul, we
would like to hear what features of trash service are important to
you. This information will help us set priorities for trash
collection within the city.
