I have just spoken to a developer (or is it architect) based in London. Name:
Steven Jones of Parkridge Homes (Southern) Ltd
They have put in a pre-application for the Gala Bingo, and apparently has a
contract with the owners (subject to planning consent, I believe) to
1. Demolish the existing site
2. Build 40 flats, 25 parking spaces
3. Keep the ground floor for retail use (3000 sq ft) (not a pub, he suggested)
He said an application is likely in the next month or so, and after then, they
may (or presumeably may not) come down and explain their proposals. (I think he
was a bit taken aback to be rung up by me at 5pm on a Friday night)
I said the future of Gala Bingo is causing a lot of interest locally, and
suggested coming and talking may help.
Would anyone like to meet up to have a chat about it?

Well done Charlie, I'd like to meet up for a chat. When do you have in
mind? Ben.

Hi Charlie, yes I would be interested in finding out more, possibly
some others from North St who aren't on the forum. If you get a time/
date please let me know and I'll pass it on, Jess.

Next week? Early evening? Say 6pm Tuesday? Wednesday?
Circles, if possible. Failing that, somewhere close to Gala.
I have spoken to Kevin Morley the planning officer who says this is early days,
and they were 'surprised' that no account has been taken of any possible
architectural merit of the existing buidling.
I think we should produce our shopping list of what we do and don't want to
happen at the site, and feed it in

Walked past the Gala Bingo site yesterday evening (on my way to the pub to
watch a football match of some local significance) and noticed it's now
sporting a "For Sale" sign from Wright Silverwood chartered surveyors
<http://www.wrightsilverwood.co.uk>. Doesn't seem to be on their current list
of properties yet at
<http://www.wrightsilverwood.co.uk/propertiesFrameset-3.htm> but i assume it
will be soon.

Todays Evening Post refers to the plans for 40 flats. The developer says they
have been in touch with local business.
Have they?
