our houses/apartments all day with the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us like to go
out for a walk/bike/run. In fact, the streets are crowded with pedestrians.
West River Parkway has walking paths that in normal times can be crowded.
However, in these times they are packed and as the weather gets better it will
only increase in terms of its popularity.
COVID-19 requires social distancing. We must maintain a 6 ft perimeter between
people on these paths. Already they are not big enough for the public to
safely walk/bike/run.
Please join over 100 Minneapolitans who have already called on the Minneapolis
Park and Recreation Board to extend the car-free zone from Plymouth Ave. to
Minnehaha Falls to widen the pedestrian area for the community. In terms of
public health it is the most prudent course of action.
