the $100M or more Minneapolis spends each year policing cars.
“Every year, 50 million Americans come into contact with the police at least
once, according to a 2015 report from the Bureau of Justice Statistics. About
half of them are pulled over in a car that they're driving (19 million), or in
which they are a passenger (6 million). Another 8 million are involved in a car
accident. Nine million more said that they called the police about a non-crime.
Among the most common reasons for those calls? More traffic accidents.”

And what about all the calls to report crimes. How many reported crimes
involve theft of or from a car?
Minneapolis is spending "$193.3 million in 2020 (for) 892 sworn officers and
175 civilian employees.

If most of that amount is for dealing with motor vehicle incidents, in one way
or another, cars are costing Minneapolis taxpayers, for law enforcement alone,
close to $100M/year, if not considerably more. When was the last time
Minneapolis spent 100 million dollars on bike lanes in a single year?
