I'm always interested when the towns people talk about race issues.
In the article above Rev. Lloyd said this about what was going on in other
places...
"the slayings are more connected with the Framingham community than many may
realize"
I'm curious How so? The only "race" problem, if you even want to call it a
race problem was at the High School a few weeks ago when according to those
that I spoke with and seem to know what was going on said, the fight at the
school was between Brazilians and Mexicans.
Are these two groups now considered white? Which by the way I have no problem
with saying that if you apply it across the board when mentioning them in other
situations. I do notice that it changes when the feeling is right for the
cause.
Happily No real white people, people who look like like me were involved. I
would think it's fair to say there exist NO black and white race problems in
Framingham? Unless someone is hiding something from me.
To me anyway whites and blacks seem to get along fine. So why is Rev Lloyd so
concerned when there seems to be no white/black issue? Do we get extra points
to say we have an issue?
I'm also curious why that issue at the school wasn't brought up at that
meeting mentioned in the article? Was it because no "white" kids were involved
and fights between Mexicans and Brazilians are not considered a racial matter.
So it appears to me and I could be wrong, only when blacks and whites fight
that is considered a racial incident and everyone else is just a disagreement.
I would think Brazilians fighting Mexicans is a racial issue but not so enough
to make it into the news.
Honestly folks I see NO significant racial issues in Framingham, but I guess
there are a lot of disagreements between everyone else. So why mention it at
all? We have no control what goes on in the other parts of the country and I
don't see those events even relating to us here. Do we want to have these
type of "racial" problems here? I wouldn't want them, but I'm not sure about
Rev. Lloyd.
How about giving Framingham credit for not having a black and white problem,
and start to recognize that there are other groups that are giving Framingham a
bad name when it comes to "race" relations. We have enough issues to deal with
why add on another that doesn't seem to exist.
Fair enough?
