Subject: [mySociety:public] PopIt - a full description, feedback welcome
To: "mySociety projects discussion for developers, volunteers and anyone
else interested" <<email obscured>>
Hello,
As you probably know mySociety is working on a new approach to
transparency sites, one that revolves around 'components'. The idea is
that you combine small pieces that handle specific tasks and together
they let you build a site.
MapIt is a component that lets you store boundary data, and PopIt lets
you store details on People, Organisations and Positions.
I've just completed a full description of PopIt and would very much
like some feedback on it. There is still a lot of work to do and this
is not a launch, but rather a request for your opinions on our plans.
There are two documents, one is the complete overview that explains
the purpose and intent:
https://github.com/mysociety/popit/wiki/PopIt-Overview
The other is a detailed feature discussion that covers how we'll make
it all work, such as site layout, data structures etc:
https://github.com/mysociety/popit/wiki/Feature-details
Please send me any comments direct, or to this list if you think they
would spark a discussion.
Thank you for looking,
Edmund.
PS just to stress again that PopIt is still in alpha and not yet ready
to be launched :)
