It seems to me this would be a great way for the Grand Rapids police and
fire department and the Itasca County sheriff to share information with the
public. It would allow people to be alerted to public safety concerns as
they happen. Admittedly the number of Twitter users in the local area may
be small. But the feeds from Twitter can be incorporated into Facebook and
other social media. The time commitment required for tweeting out the
information would be small and it could provide great dividends in some
cases. It would certainly require less effort than successful neighborhood
watch programs.
