Verizon's cable service, and increasing frustration with Verizon's inability to
solve them. I'm wondering if anyone else is having these problems:
1. We have been having a problem playing back DVR recordings of one particular
series we record. Occasionally, the same episode will be listed twice in the
list of recorded shows. When we click PLAY for either instance, the show
does not play, and it says Error. We just see this problem with one
particular series -- other series that we record have not had this problem.
When it occurs, we call Verizon and they have us go through their standard
troubleshooting, which does not solve the problem. After various gyrations in
how we record, we eventually get it to work again (and the gyrations vary from
call to call). It works again for days or weeks and then the problem comes
back.
2. We see an increasing number of DVR recordings from different channels having
pixelated images and mangled sound, enough so that the recordings are useless.
Recordings of the same show will be fine one night, and useless another night.
Not sure if the actual show is pixelated or the recording, since we rarely
watch shows "live."
We experience these problems just with DVR recordings; we almost never watch
programs "live." We've now spent hours on the phone with Verizon,
innumerable software and hardware resets, and three different cable boxes (and
trips to the Verizon store).
We've grown increasingly frustrated over the last few months with Verizon's
inability to solve these problems, and all the time we've spent on this. When
I call, I have to wait a long time to get a person. When they say they will
escalate and someone from Verizon will call me back in 48 hours, they don't.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems with Verizon? Is there another
carrier you would recommend?
