In this interview Mayor Frey gets upset when the reporter tell him that
Representative Omar pointed out that it was his and the the city council's job
to provide public safety. She has always supported public safety and has urged
serious reform of the police. She has never been in charge of public safety in
MPLS. That's his job.
Mayor Frey referred to his Congressional Representative as 'that person.'
When the reporter asked him if Representative Omar works with him, he mumbled
something about meetings in D.C. and said that she should "sit down at the
table and work together." If I were Representative Omar, I would respond to the
Mayor of Minneapolis' request to sit down at the table and work together with a
request of him to provide at least an outline of the issues for which he would
like Representative Omar's assistance. She does after all have constituents
outside the City of Minneapolis and national congressional duties - her time is
valuable.
I think it would be very noble of Frey to make those requests for assistance
public.
