The media are at it again. It turns out the moderator for
tomorrows Palin Biden debate, Gwen Ifill, is totally in
the bag for Obama. She's writing a book called "The
Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama." Who
picks these people and where is the Republican leadership
to kill this fiasco? The word is that Palin is going to
"open her debate remarks by congratulating Ifill on her
book and asking her to tell everyone the title."
I have another question. Why aren't Franklin Rains and Jim
Johnson under investigation for fraud and corruption?

Mike,
Parroting DFL ad-hominem talking points about Republicans parroting Republican
talking points only points to the fact that the talking point to which you
point about Lee having no facts is in fact not factual, and is merely a talking
point.
Glad we could clear this up.
Oh, yeah - Ifill's a hack.

LOL. 80% of the posts on this list are "parroted" Democrat
talking points. So why don't you answer the questions or
haven't the talking points come out yet?

Oh Lee
Come on!
Do you really want a vice president who knows nothing about Supreme Court
decisions. Nothing! Next time you talk to her give her these:
1. Supreme Court declared that the death penalty for child rapists is cruel
and unusual punishment.
2. The Supreme Court cleared the way for local governments to seize private
property to strengthen the tax base.
3. Oh ya Rowe v. Wade
These things are all big Big BIG Republican talking points, and they're brought
to you by a Democrat.
After all I'd hate for her to be playing on an uneven field.
Even Joe six-pack know em
Forgot, one more:
Brown v. Board of Education This, by the way, is not a big, Big, BIG
Republican talking point so she probably isn't familiar with it.
First of all the Ifill book is about African American politicians. It, to my best search, is still not titled. Second, the book was announced in July and the chapter on Obama hasn't even been written. Of course, since he is African American, one will be written on him. So why did it take until this weekend before Conservatives raised the issue? Why is an issue? She is moderating the Vice Presidential debate not a Presidential debate. Tell me Lee, how writing a book about a subject implies bias as a debate moderator. As for Rains and Johnson's investigation and fraud. Why do you suggest fraud exists? Also tell me why a Justice Department closely controlled by Bush and Company, who demanded investigations four years ago and are still in charge not investigating them? It looks to me like these isn't anything to investigate. Not that your points above are pointless but you need to
understand that the strategy with Ifill will be to ask
obscure and irrelevant questions that have been leaked to
Biden to throw Palin off balance and create awkward
responses. I'm also predicting an air of condescension
toward Palin as has already occurred in the Gibson and
Couric interviews. The media will stop at nothing to get
their man in office and McCain is an idiot to let this
happen.I also just heard that Ifill did not tell the
selection commission about the book. She should be dumped
just for that.
Tonight's debate will certainly be a two on one and it's a
shame and undemocratic.
I think the next debate should be done by Dick
Morris, Drudge, O'Reilly, Hewitt, Dennis Miller, Hannity,
Gingrich
or Mark Steyn to name a few if you want it to be relevant.
Hey how about that filthy rich Nancy Pelosi giving her
husband 100K out of her Pac? Keep sending in that fifty
bucks so it can get funneled off to a guy who spends more
on jet fuel in a year than you make in a decade. That is
assuming you have fifty bucks as the state gas tax just
got raised by the Democrats an estimated $100 per year per
family.

Don't drag the gas tax increase into this.
I did the math on my gas purchases last year.
Had this new tax been in place last year I would have been paying only
$21 more.
I think I drive a lot, so you do the math.
My $21 dollar reality (I can back this up with data) or your tossing out
a number based on what?
Now about Nancy, I get her emails. I have no plans to give her one thin
dime.

Hey Lee

Wrong
I thought she (Palin) held herself quite well. If anything she took the
moderators job away from her and made her almost inconsequential.
At the end of the dayI expect the vp to know whats going on in the world. I
expect them to know American history. I don't consider any question off
limits. This speaks to their ability and none of it is pointless. None of
Ifill's questions were irrelevant, but my guess is thanks to the Republicans
she probably sold a lot more books than she would have. You guys are getting
sloppy.

While Ifill avoided any obviously and gratuitously-biased "gotchas", the topic selection did seem to favor Biden. No questions about gun control, where Biden and Obama contradict each other. Nothing about abortion that would force Biden to square his support for infanticide with his Catholicism, and the Church's stance on the issue. Nothing overtly about energy (Palin had to drag the subject around to it once), where Biden is very weak and Palin extra-strong. My radio colleague Ed Morrissey has more on the subject: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/03/did-gwen-ifill-show-bias-in-last-nights-debate/ On the other hand, Ifill *did*, surprisingly, give Palin an opening to show how her personal social conservatism squares with her Reaganesque laissez-faire approach to social issues, on the gay rights/gay marriage issue. But that issue's not going to be a deal-maker, like the economy, the war, and energy - where the topic selection arguably went light, to Biden's benefit and relief. In short - Ifill did passably, but as always, betting against liberal bias is almost always a loser. By the way - the format of the debate itself was abysmal, designed to ensure all questions got a trite little soundbite of an answer. I much preferred the format at the first Presidential debate, with the longer answers and provision for real cross-examination. Much better idea. The format last night probably favored Biden - the short, choppy format kept him from bloviating on and on and on, as he is wont to do. > "Not that your points above are pointless but you need > to > understand that the strategy with Ifill will be to ask > obscure and irrelevant questions that have been leaked to > Biden to throw Palin off balance and create awkward > responses." > > Wrong Well, not "wrong" so much as "no evidence one way or the other". > At the end of the dayI expect the vp to know whats going on > in the world. When people can read, it benefits us, eventually. Which is why Democrats are gundecking our schools; illiterates, criminals and those dependent on government reliably vote Democrat. Palin won the first half of the debate pretty soundly; the second half was a sloppy draw for both. Mitch Berg The Midway

Nothing about abortion ... energy They reflected the interests of the American voter. Looking at the polling data from the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Newsweeks and CBS/NYT, etc, http://www.pollingreport.com/prioriti.htm the questions seemed well targeted. Biden won because he actually participated in the debate, Palin regurgitated her script whether it fit the question or not. On the Achilles Heel question, maybe she did not know what it meant but she did not answer it at all. The answers that surprised me the most were the gay union equity question where she supported equality and the health care question. Putting her health care answer and the Katie Couric abortion question together, Palin is a federalist on abortion but not on health care, wierd.
"Which is why Democrats are gundecking our schools; illiterates, criminals and

Yet another baseless assertion. Fact is, the more educated you are, the more
likely you are to vote for Obama. States leaning toward Obama are closely
correlated with states with higher levels of educational attainment. States
with high levels of poverty, and therefore high levels of people dependent on
government, are less inclined to vote for Obama. Ever hear of Appalachia Mitch?
Solid for McCain.
