Cleve Park on Wednesday, March 25 from 6:30 to 8:30pm to learn more about and
discuss the draft Neighborhoods 2020 guidelines
This is your chance to learn the details, hear from neighbors and share your
feedback directly with two Council Members who will have the chance to amend
and vote in May on the guidelines that will determine the funding amounts and
uses for neighborhood organizations for the next 5 years.
The draft guidelines build on a framework resolution and staff directions
passed by the Council last May. They were developed by City staff using input
from neighborhoods, community members and the University of Minnesota’s Center
for Urban and Regional Affairs. The guidelines are intended to align with our
Strategic Racial Equity Plan and the Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Goal 14,
“Equitable civic participation system: In 2040, Minneapolis will have an
equitable civic participation system that enfranchises everyone, recognizes the
core and vital service neighborhood organizations provide to the City of
Minneapolis, and builds people’s long term capacity to organize to improve
their lives and neighborhoods and Policy 100: “Place-based Neighborhood
Engagement: Strengthen the City’s robust neighborhood-based community
engagement system to ensure that it effectively and equitably builds people’s
capacity to organize to improve their neighborhoods.”

On May 4, final guidelines will be considered by the City Council’s Public
Health, Environment, Civil Rights and Engagement Committee with a City Council
vote expected on May 15. To see the draft guidelines and more information on
