Kia ora koutou
My name is Martin Rodgers and you may have seen my post at the end of last
week about the Open Government Partnership. I am part of the engage2 team
working with the State Services Commission to facilitate input into the
co-creation of New Zealand’s second Open Government National Action Plan.
As part of this process, Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) has asked us
to also seek views, from both government and non-government stakeholders
interested in open data, about whether New Zealand should adopt the
International Open Data Charter (ODC), and whether we should keep the NZ
Data and Information Management Principles (NZDIMP).
You can read about the:
• Open Data Charter here: http://*opendatacharter.net*/principles/
<http://opendatacharter.net/principles/>
• NZ Data & Info Management Principles here - https://*www.ict.govt*.nz/
guidance-and-resources/open-government/new-zealand-data-and-
information-management-principles/
<https://www.ict.govt.nz/guidance-and-resources/open-government/new-zealand-data-and-information-management-principles/>
The ODC could either sit alongside or replace the current NZDIMP.
>From today until 31 August, LINZ are providing an opportunity for you to
share your views on this decision, through the govt.nz site here:
https://*www.govt*.nz/browse/engaging-with-government/

international-open-data-charter/
<https://www.govt.nz/browse/engaging-with-government/should-the-new-zealand-government-adopt-the-international-open-data-charter/>
To help with this, LINZ has produced a really useful reference document
that compares the two sets of principles, which you can find by following
the above link as well.
The LINZ team will be in on the Open Government Partnership teleconferences
on Open Data that we have scheduled for this Thursday (tomorrow). Along
with other Open Data discussions, they will be able to answer any questions
and be participate in a discussion on the ODC. If you would like to join
in, the details are:
