claiming--with a picture of someone actually falling into a river--that
the flood is dangerous and that the path is closed. The Marston flood is
currently about 10 cm deep, and one of the least dangerous things in
Oxford (compared, say, with drinking Hertford college sherry, or going
out without a scarf on). But this silly overreaction may encourage
cyclists to do something genuinely dangerous such as cycle round
Magdalen roundabout in the dark thinking they can't get through (though
most people seem sensible enough to ignore the signs completely). Please
could someone have them removed? Signs simply saying 'Flood' would be of
some use (perhaps we could have some permanently, to be put out by the
members of the 'Marston Psychopath' mailing list when appropriate), but
these are just daft.
