my former husband and I lived in an apartment. Because we could not afford to
buy a house that we liked in St. Paul, we bought a house in the suburbs that we
could afford and commuted to work. Our suburban house appreciated, our income
increased and we had the good fortune to find an older home in Minneapolis we
liked and could afford. And that is how I transitioned from renting to owning.
I am still in that same house.
