Reports to: Senior Director of Development
Status: Part-Time, 20 hrs / week, M-F, Non-exempt
Broad Scope and Function of Job: The goal of this position is to provide
ongoing assistance to the communications and promotion efforts of East Side
Neighborhood Services to increase awareness and understanding of the
organization's mission and programs for a variety of audiences, and to advance
East Side's web presence and social media strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
News
* Prepare press releases for local media and email lists
* Cultivate relationships with the major media serving Hennepin County
* Invite media representatives to special events
Events
* Attend event committee meetings and Development Team meetings
* Create a marketing plan for each event that includes a press release
* Design and produce promotional materials, signs, etc
* Attend and photograph all events
* Keep agency display fresh, stocked with current publications, and
take it to events
* Coordinate and staff outreach events as needed to represent the
Agency
Publications
* Design and produce agency brochures, program brochures, annual
report, etc.
* Design and produce "Open Door" newsletter twice each year
* Design and produce specialty publications, e.g. 100th Anniversary
collaterals
Advertising
* Keep website and program links up to date
* In consultation with the Development Committee, maintain agency
Facebook and Twitter presence
* Advise the Senior Director of Development on print advertising
* Maintain close relationships with the staff of the Northeaster, North
News, and the Downtown Journal
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
* A bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism or
related field, or equivalent experience and a proven track record in public
relations or communications.
* Non-profit experience a plus.
* Demonstrated knowledge of public relations, promotions standards, agency
branding and production requirements of advertising and print industries.
* PC proficiency, including word processing and Adobe Creative Suite
programs to prepare materials in multiple mediums and formats.
* To speak and write effectively as appropriate for the needs of the
audience.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet the needs of
multiple program areas.
Compensation: Minimum of $15.00-17.50 per hour DOQ
