District Council voted at their May 1st board meeting to seek city approval
to expand permit parking in areas just south of I 94 on the blocks that
straddle Snelling Ave to the west and east.
Permit Parking Area 8 to the east of Snelling Ave would be expanded and a
request will be made to create a new permit parking area that would extend
two blocks to the west of Snelling Ave between Carroll and Concordia Aves.
"The requests are being made as the result of increased of on-street parking
demand caused by the new Allianz Field soccer stadium" per the Villager
article. The City Council will schedule a public hearing to consider the
requests. For more info on current permit parking areas in St. Paul see:

So after 3 Minnesota United home games in April the Union Park District Council
becomes the first district council to seek relief for a residential area due
to the soccer stadium. It remains to be seen if this represents the first
parking permit domino to fall in neighborhoods surrounding the stadium or is
a one time, isolated problem area that just needs tweaking.
The next Minnesota United home game is Saturday, May 18 at 7:00 PM.
