Hi
Every summer I runa summer camp for children aged 9-14 in Forest Row. It's part
of a conference called 'Lifeways', held at Emerson College www.emerson.org.uk.
In a nutshell, adults go on the conference and do workshops etc and we play
with their kids all week, camping in a field next to the College. We do all
kinds of outdoor activities, crafts and games, and the camp is independent in
terms of cooking etc.
The camp is led by a group of12 adults, 10 of which are 'group leaders' and
lead a group of 5 children in their tasks eg cooking, washing up, collecting
firewood etc throughout the week. Group leaders also run activitiesin the
mornings, but have afternoons off to relaxwhile the children do workshops,
crafts and gamesat the College with the adults on the conference. Then it's tea
time and the kids come back to us for more fun. We also run evening activities
on certain nights.
The aim of the camp is to give children confidence in themselves and each
other, to learn how to play and work together and push the boundaries a little.
We are looking for someone who would enjoy a week as a group leader, who has a
little experience with children, and who can spare a week between 19 and 26
July. The conference is not exactly a money-spinner, so we do it more for
karmic reward and the pure fun of it than anything else, but there is a
contribution of 80 towards expenses, and of course no living costs for the
week. The food on the camp is excellent, all organic and mostly from the two
biodynamic community farms on the outskirts of the village.
If anyone is interested please get in touch asap!
Thanks very much
