looking for something you will hold onto until you can give them to the
Grandsprouts, consider the quarterly magazine, "2 Million Blossoms". As
you might suspect from the name, 2 Million Blossoms is mostly about
pollinators, and their preservation.
The name comes from the fact that honey bees need to visit 2 million
flowers in order to make a pound of honey, but the magazine is not just
about honey bees. A recent issue had articles about Bumble bees in
greenhouses, coyotes as seed dispersers, why some bees are blue, and how
terroir affects the taste of honey. Sound science, gorgeous pictures,
and interesting and informative reading.
There is a digital edition, but I like the print version, and there is
also a book by the same name by the magazine editor that speaks to the
medicinal benefits of honey. It is well written though edging toward
scholarly, but certainly of interest to anybody interested in
traditional medicine or phytotherapy.
