> Hi folks, the CARS-Twin Cities leadership team has been busy the past few
weeks preparing for a fabulous opportunity! We have been invited, along with
the CARS group in La Crosse, WI to a policy roundtable discussion on train
safety issues with Senator Franken and Senator Baldwin (WI).
>
> The roundtable discussion will be held Wednesday, September 2nd from
1:00-2:15 pm at the Firefighters Hall and Museum at 664 22nd Ave NE,
Minneapolis, MN 55418 in NE Minneapolis with an official press conference
afterwards. Space is limited so we ask that you please RSVP by replying to this
email if you are able to join us. There will not be time for questions or
comments from the audience, but our CARS MN and WI teams will have several
representatives at the table prepared to present on our best policy suggestions
as well as telling our personal stories of what it is like to live in the blast
zone of hazardous flammable trains. If there is something you would especially
like included in our presentations please reply to this email with your story
or policy priority. We can't guarantee that we can will have time to include
it, but we are still open for feedback.
>
> Finally, we are pleased that CARS and Rep Hornstein were both quoted in an
MPR story today entitled, "Railroads balk at making oil disaster plans public."
It is nice to see continuing coverage of the railroad transparency issues we
raised in our July press conference.
