Street and/or the Greenway.
A really important issue for these open houses is that the enhanced transit
STOPS at Hiawatha--It would not serve Lake Street east of Hiawatha. This would
orphan Lake Street through Longfellow. People need to show up and tell Metro
Transit that the project needs to include the area east of Hiawatha!

> The Midtown Transit Alternatives Analysis is currently examining Lake Street
and the Midtown Greenway for improvements to supplement the 21 bus. The
federal study, conducted by Metro Transit, has narrowed down the improvements
to two options: An Arterial Bus Rapid Transit (an enhanced bus) down Lake
Street, and a Streetcar down the Midtown Greenway.
>
> Come learn more about the project! There will be two Open Houses this week:
>
> Tues, May 21, 6-8 p.m.
> Colin Powell Center, 3rd Floor
> 2924 4th Avenue S., Minneapolis
>
> Thurs, May 23, 6-8 p.m.
> Whittier Clinic
> 2810 Nicollet Avenue S., Minneapolis
>
> The Greenway Coalition is in support of a grass turf track Streetcar down the
Greenway: the line would be significantly faster because it would be removed
from traffic and connect to the Hiawatha and Southwest Light Rails, it would
help make the greenway a safer place, and it would help support stable economic
development in the community.
>
> We want to make sure that each neighborhood is represented to share their
perspectives at the Open Houses -- drop by, look at the plans, and share your
thoughts! The Open Houses will offer translation in Somali and Spanish.
