Not a clue yet, sorry. Bus shelters were recently installed at both the A40 and
the Barton Village Road ends of Barton Fields Road. Last I looked, they didn't
have any route numbers or timetables on them.
The original concrete barriers are still blocking all carriageway access across
the A40 from Barton Park into Northway. The road is still painted with "Bus and
[pedal cycle symbol] only", and the pole signage backs it up. That's
encouraging, I guess...?
I'd naively assume it's to be an extension of the 8 from Barton or the 13 from
Northway. I'd hope the companies aren't stalling and waiting for the spine road
to be completed (could be years away) or for the Redrow houses to be built and
moved in.
Grovesnor or Hill (t.a. Mosaics Oxford) may know more.

But why the mystery about the bus service? surely people buying the places on
Barton Park want to know where their buses are going? or perhaps not many
intend taking public transport after all.

I donโt know what decisions, if any, have been made about the bus routes.
As a Marston Ward councillor I would see linking up Barton Park with the 13 via
Northway and Marston as problematic as it would make it a very long and
circuitous route into the City Centre. It would only really be attractive to
people with lots of time on their hands and such a long route round the houses
would, I imagine, also be vulnerable to long delays and unreliability.
I fought very hard to keep the Oxford Road loop as part of the 13 route as it
is a life line for many older residents who donโt have access to a car and it
is important to protect this.
I think itโs probably time to have a choice of both slow, regularly stopping
buses to serve area such as Oxford Road, and also direct routes with very few
stops to serve those on the outskirts.
On an issue related to the bus gate, I noticed, when I went on Google Maps, to
work out the quickest route to a part of Old Marston, that it directed me via
the bus gate on Meaden Hill and along the bypass! I was going by bike so could
do that anyway, but this was based on the assumption that I was driving, which
is worrying.

Big houses and apartment blocks house plenty of people. It's not just posh
private houses even now: they've planned for 40% affordable housing (whatever
that means) that includes OCC rental properties, and folks keep moving in as
soon as they're completed in a pretty diverse and mixed-together fashion. In
other words, there should be enough residents soon to claim the need for a bus
service if there's not already. The developers started work on a new primary
school last month too, so I hope the transport planning discourages school car
runs and encourages more bus, bike and foot traffic. If not, we'll have to band
together and mini-Hollandize it.
Some bus news from the Mosaics sales office, though: a "Not In Service" bus was
sighted on Baron Fields Road last Sunday, 24 Nov 2019. The sales guy I spoke
with described it as full of "conductors", meaning people in yellow jackets I
think. Assume that's trainees or staff there to test the feasibility of the
turning circuitย - https://osm.org/go/eutMCZ7vF--?m=ย with a passenger load. I
don't know whether this is some test phase for the bus company or if it's
standard practice or anything, but it's certainly more than nothing.

Perhaps they should of built a new hospital on the Barton Park site and built
houses where the JR is.

If they are doing a bus service to the JR Hospital from Barton Park wouldn't
have been sensible to build key worker housing there, so nurses and doctors and
hospital staff could get to work without using there cars?

Is a bus service really starting in March to Barton Park? It's mid February now
and nobody seems to know anything about it.
