I recently posted this request for my shoestring gov't organization, of which I
am the Chief, Cook and Bottle Washer. If you know anyone who is tech savvy (or
moreso than I am) looking for community service hours, or to help recover
useful material from the trash, please put them in touch with me:
Volunteer or Intern position: Textile bin locator data, social media, probably
8-12 hours
100 lbs/year of reusable/recyclable textiles are thrown in the trash by the
average ! Whether if it's ripped, stained or ugly, most of it can be
repurposed, and earn u[ to $100/ton for our towns and schools. We want to get
this material out of the trash and into textile donation bins.
The Director is in need of help in promoting textile recovery by populating
MassDEP's Beyond the Bin Directory with donation bin locations at our towns'
transfer stations, recycling centers, schools and churches. This will involve
figuring out how to navigate ReTrac entry system for Beyond the Bin, and
entering at least the locations listed on the SSRC textile page (scroll up a
little to reach the top of the list).
She also needs help promoting and better understanding how to use our Facebook
page. https://www.facebook.com/ssrcoop/
Compensation will be in the form of a letter of recommendation, community
service hours, and a nice write-up in our monthly newsletter (circulation 450),
a plug on our newly viral Facebook page, and satisfaction in knowing he or she
will have rescued valuable material from the trash, saving energy, resources,
and helping those in need.
If you can help with this, please contact Claire Galkowski, the Executive
Director, at <email obscured>, or text 508-934-6147
The South Shore Recycling Cooperative is an independent government organization
comprised of fifteen Member Towns.
