As you've probably heard, the new generation of M1 iMacs from Apple has
garnered a lot of interest. Many wealthier families, private schools,
businesses, and government offices will be upgrading. This will create a happy
wave of donated older iMacs.
Last year, a business in Washington DC gave me several very nice 2011 iMacs. I
installed Linux on them and distributed them to needy families during the
pandemic. Last week, I checked in with that business -- and they plan to
upgrade to M1 iMacs in the next three months -- and will have ten more
2011/2012 iMacs to give me. Some of these are the ones with 27-inch screens.
Linux Mint runs beautifully on these computers -- and could safely do so for at
least five more years.
Check in with previous sources of donated Macs to see if they have a new group
to donate this year. You'll be helping them - and helping the community, by
doing so. Just curious, are others successfully installing Windows 10 on that
generation iMac? That's another possible way to extend their use.

btw, those who know me well understand that I have open source in my blood.
Check out the lovely comment from one of Bob Dylan's friends on this music
video of mine. (I composed an extra verse to this song.) Notice how I wrap in
open source in my response to his comment.

Happy birthday, Bobby. (Bob Dylan will be 80 years old on Monday - May 24,
2021.) It seems just yesterday that he and I were hanging out in coffee houses
in Greenwich Village.
