WinonaOn-Line Democracy will be looking into the idea of sharing ideas
viablogs. One thing we could do as members on this list is share any local
blogsalready in existence so we can see what they are like.
One you may wantto check out is DonSaylards.com
Don has never been shy about sharing opinions.
Do you know ofany we can check out?

Personally, I have not found a single blog that I would care to
participate in. This is due primarily to the fact the
participants (even the blogmaster on some of them) can remain
anonymous by hiding behind a "user ID." I have not found such
discussions fruitful or respectful. On some of the blogs, I'm
not even sure when I am listening to one or ten different
"people."
I made a couple of entries in the now-famous "Winona Area Public
Schools" blog - under my real name - but disengaged when people
without names claimed to "know" my wife and questioned her
judgment concerning an event she had attended.
I responded to a couple of comments on a Winona Daily News
blog - under my real name - concerning an op-ed piece I had
recently written for the paper. Those comments and subsequent
replies - protected by anonymity - were quite predatory.
I most prefer this forum where we are held accountable for our
own words.
If there are other local blogs that require people to stand
behind their words, please let me know about them.
Thanks,
Leslie Hittner
