A reminder to you all that this year's Audit of East Street will take place on
Thursday 5 June at 19.00 meeting outside Zion House.
We are aware that people who wish to attend the audits may have childcare
issues. However, the audits are working parties and are not suitable events
for children under 16 to attend.
If you fall into this category but wish to contribute to the audit then please
email me with your concerns and they will be included in the inventory.

Sounds intriguing and I appear to be free, but what does a visual audit
involve? And what's SBLAG? I've tried briefly asking google and wikipedia but
it didn't help.
Firstly SBLAG is Southville and Bedminster Local
Action Group. We meet every two months to discuss the
major issues in the area. The representatives from
the Council are people like Estate Management,
Cleansing and Highways, our local Councillors attend
as do representatives of Housing Associations etc.
The Fire Service has an interest in the group. The
group is Police led and proactive.
Visual Auditing is a Crime Reduction tool. Once a
year we do a sort of health check of the street
logging incidences of graffiti, state of street
furniture, pavements, road etc. as we go. Last year I
also did a lighting audit of East Street with Ed
Wiltshire who is one of our Beat Managers. The
information is collated and sent to the various
departments of the Council to address and other issues
that are raised as a result of this are discussed and
addressed where possible. This year we will be
talking to local traders about auditing and how they
can help the street.
Since we began auditing the level of graffiti on East
Street has reduced quite a lot (I don't have the exact
figure on hand). The Cleansing Dept are constantly
battling against graffiti all year round.
We also began to audit North Street two years ago
which is also an open audit and the details will be
published here later on and West Street had its first
audit last year but that is and will remain a closed
audit.
Auditing is a success in this area and we will
continue as long as it is needed.
