Deal" every day this week....
Of course, government announcements like this are important, but maybe they
would be more effective if made available on a designated channel accessible at
various times of the day, not just when they are made.
I am reminded of C-SPAN, cable TV's way of covering the Federal government's
proceedings, public announcements, etc.
What if Minnesota were to have a local version of this. Since the "C" in C-SPAN
stands for "Congress", I suggest it be called L-SPAN, "L" for Legislature.
Instead of being a cable-only channel, it could be a subchannel on one
broadcast station in each market in Minnesota.
Perhaps the idea would spread to other states, with those states which call
their lawmaking body an "Assembly" rather than a Legislature using A-SPAN
instead of L-SPAN.
I am aware TPT is doing something similar already, this would be a proposal to
expand it statewide with consistent branding.
Yes, I know C-SPAN would have to give permission to use a similar name to
theirs, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be too hard to obtain.
Any thoughts?
