they set fire to a duplex. This was the second of two house fires in South
Minneapolis last week. Firefighters also believe a firework are to blame for
damaging a home on the 3100 block of Portland Avenue and displacing a family of
seven early Thursday morning.
Isn't it (past) time for some fireworks enforcement?!

Two families, who have lived in the home in Phillips for over five years now,
have been displaced by the fire.
The upstairs apartment, which was home to a family of four (parents, 6 month
old baby & 9 year old daughter), was completely destroyed by the fire. They
have lost everything - beds, bedding, clothes, electronics, kitchen stuff,
toys...well, everything.
The downstairs was a 3-bedroom housing a family of 6 (2 parents and their
children ranging in age from 12-22). While the fire did not go downstairs,
there is considerable water damage, and they have lost many things that were
destroyed by standing water and smoke damage - things like mattresses,
furniture, and electronics, as well as any food and consumables that had
recently been purchased.
Please consider even small donation, as every little bit will help these
friends and neighbors.
